I bought this hat at an outlet when I saw it on clearance. The price was right, it fit perfect, and I didn’t have an A’s fitted in my collection. It wasn’t until I got home that I realized one thing; the lip on the brim didn’t fold over the edge. The hat reminds me of the “Turn Ahead The Clock” hats that had the brim flipped over. I called the outlet to see if anyone knew why the brim was like this but nobody knew, except the manager who said they were probably B-Grades. It’s funny to me because I never assumed that New Era would allow B-Grades to be sold in stores. I’m sure most people wouldn’t even care, and to an extent I don’t either because it still has the New Era quality that makes them one of the best hats ever.

New Era Diamond Era Collection 2014

This week New Era revealed their 2014 MLB Diamond Era collection fitteds. To my surprise they updated the Blue Jays model by making it all red with a white maple leaf outline. The 2013 had a successful launch in a blue and red colorway. Unlike a regular on-field fitted, this model uses breathable fabric this is perfect for hot weather. My only complaint about this hat is the awkward placement of the Blue Jays logo on the back. Other than that this is a beautiful hat that the team will use for Spring Training and during certain games (my guess Canada Day, and Armed Forces day). The retail price for these hats will be $35.99. The only question now is, will the 2013 model go out of production and become a collector’s item?

G-Shock G-6900KG-3CR Solar Military

I’ve been collecting G-Shocks for a while now, but this is my first time featuring them on my blog. I never mentioned them before because I never assumed that people collected them. That was until one day when I wanted to buy a watch and went online to look for information about it. It was then that I realized that there was a whole community dedicated to not only G-Shocks, but all kinds of watches. This made me happy because it made me feel like I wasn’t the only one who loved watches.
The watch I am featuring for this post is a G-6900KG-3CR. It comes in a military green or olive colorway, with orange and black highlights. The watch is also a tough solar, meaning that it comes with a solar panel that can be charged by the sun. This is wonderful because you won’t have to change the battery as often compared to a regular 6900 watch. The inclusion of tough solar is one of the reasons I bought this watch.
Another feature of this watch is that it comes with a negative display. Although I had read reviews that negative displays were hard to read, I still bought this watch thinking that it probably wouldn’t be a huge issue. However, I was wrong because the face is difficult to read from different angles. The addition of the mirrored face (from the solar panel) also adds to this headache. Despite this watch coming in a wonderful color, and featuring tough solar, this is one watch I would tell people to view in person before they purchase.

Pitchers Protective Caps

Today MLB gave the green light to protective caps for pitchers. The protective cap would be worn under a cap, giving the pitcher a head shield that is revolutionary in baseball. Unfortunately this new shield comes at a cost of an awkward appearance, and also the discomfort in overheating after extended periods. A few years ago I would have been opposed to this protective cap, but after watching J.A. Happ get hit on the head, I am now in favor of this product approval. My support for this protective cap comes on the belief that any equipment that can secure the safety of an individual on the field, without interfering with their performance is worth investing in. Just like the goalie mask in hockey, this protective shield will eventually gain acceptance as it becomes better designed, lighter in weight, and saves a few players a visit to the hospital.
